HISTORY
Glan Hinterlands were sparsely populated by native highlanders, particularly, B'laans, Manobos, Bagobos, Tagacaolos and Tagabelles. The coast was occupied by Sangils. It was during the coming of the early Chinese and Arab traders that Sarangani shore became a trading port. The coast was frequented by sea pirates who brought along looted treasures. In the late 14th century, Muslim missionaries arrived in the area and introduced Islam. The Sangils were the first converts to Islam Faith in Sarangani This explains the claim of historians placing this coastline inhabitants of the bay in the list of thirteen tribes of Muslim Filipinos
Dayon sa Glan.
Your search for nature and pure pleasure is not over until it ends...in Glan. It should be - geographically, literally. It is Sarangani's farthest end. But a virtual Eden neither found nor lost.
Come find it then.
In a smooth, traffic free driving, an unspeakably splendid sight of not balding mountains beckon you. Oblige and go slow for below the tricky, thrilly zig-zag is a jealous bay that claps its splashing waves unnoticed. The waves are the sea's cymbals gleefully announcing your call. Gentle currents stay calm in depths. Some are partly driven to cove retreats where the water is green. Yes, green in kissing, lapping the magnificent rock formations. Some deep through white pebbles and sands - setting and not minding, flirting.
The farther you look, the prettier Sarangani Bay you behold in bright sparkling ripples beneath the true blue skies.
Go scuba dive. Snorkel. Have your eyes and heart delight in fragile beds of multicolored dream corals.
Frolic with the rich, diverse marine life. Get bewitched by exotic species, but leave them as they are. Most of them are untouched!
Bare your feet in the long stretch of shore where coconut palms bend and sway fanning the rich tropical climate.
Glan tropic is tanning. Typhoon snubs that place.
The steep mountain ranges of Glan that border the jurisdictions of Sarangani Province and Davao del Sur are a domain of flora and fauna. The lush vegetation is an aviary of endemic and migratory birds and fowls.
Mt.Gulo in Kaltuad is believed to be home to Serpent Eagles and Philipine Hawks. Several sightings have long been noted.
The not much touted lake of Datal Bukay - Lanao Kapanglao is a soothing wonder much wished and longed for to be seen even by the people of Glan. Seeing it is a dream come true.
Downhill is the seeming entry block of the bay - Sumbang Point which is boasting of its natural harbor. A natural cave in its base awaits the conquest of brave souls.
Glan, indeed, is Sarangani's fortress and Sumbang its sentinel. It stands guard yet proudly salutes your visit.
Take a slow moving "trisikad" ride or try a brisk walk to breeze around town. In the very heart of Glan, you will see first Plaza Rizal of four small sections fortified with weather beaten pergolas in the eastern and western points of entry. The sunken garden is greenfenced with gumamela topiary. Two-quarters-of-a-century old narra trees bloom bundles of thin golden rings in the park. Stop and pose for souvenir onstage a semi-winding rotonda or at a fountain in the middle of trimmed grass carpet.
Pass through the archway leading to Osmena Park and spot the children's playground and the town's cultural center edifice. Osmena Park's archway is a time-tested memento to the locals' fine architectural sense - designed and built by local artisans. And never let your gaze skip the US barn type postal office built by an American soldier years ago. Deserving a second look is another colonial structure a few blocks away - the old infirmary. Restoration will be undertaken soon.
Keep ambling along J. Hombrebueno St. and E. Alegado St. where rows of several ancestral houses show off old-world charm. Mostly built in the 1920's, guests will certainly be awed by their high balconies, canopies and walls of 'kalados' or 'callados' and concrete stepboards leading to wide wooden staircases. A few of these houses retain the 'batalan' or cupboard of the 'bahay kubo' of yore. Some of them bear stunning collections of precious antiques and oriental sets right in the living room. Heirloom pieces all handed down from a grand era of prominence and affluence.
At the corner of C. Lapaz and Colony No. 9 Streets is another old, imposing facade and a landmark of sort when you view it from a nearby seaport. In one of its rooms, the late President Diosdado Macapagal slept for a night during his first sojourn to Glan. On the opposite corner is the town's foremost historic structure - the Colono Marker. The sculpted images in what seemed to be a pose for posterity were meant for real. Ask any local and he will give you names of those. This is the town's fitting tribute to the first meeting of Christian and native settlers of Glan. This much fabled statue, accordingly, must be kissed by first-timers for good luck.

Another best beach resort located in Talicud Island is Isla Reta Beach Resort.. Talikud is a Cebuano term of the “back”, it is so because Talikud island can be seen at the back of Samal island.
There are quite a few restaurants to choose from on this resort so you will never get bored with the dining options. However, it is advisable that you bring your own food. The price is around 50% more than the city rates, maybe because people have no other place to get the food in the area. You can have bountiful lunch at the provided tables with your family and friends.
You can also enjoy strolling to the rocky portion of the island, it has more coral and fish compared to other public areas. With your snorkeling gear, you can witness the young coral and the various marine life living there. Sea urchins present on the beach might spoiled your fun, just keep your feet away from them.
The seashore of Isla Reta beach resort holds a potent lure for the sun bathers. You can either sleep on tent, on small huts, or in a hammock hang in between the trees for relaxing afternoon siesta.
The Isla Reta is behind a small village, still, there are regular trips for tourists and travelers up to 3pm. It only takes a ten-minute boat ride to reach Samal Island, plus it takes around 30 to 45 minutes trip to Talikud island.
